Matt Cook Aug 4th 2009 Western Zones - Honolulu

First day of Western Zones Championship, Tuesday, August 4th
Today Matt swam the first leg on the 400 free relay. He swam the 4th fastest leg out of about 40 swimmers and after his leg his team was 2nd. By the end of the race, the Inland Empire team finished 6th.
The great thing about Matt's swim today was he dropped 2 seconds off his best time in the 100 free and he did it without his inhaler. As you know Matt has asthma. Matt lost his inhaler and we got stuck in Waikiki traffic trying to get it to him and ended up missing his race and not getting him his inhaler before he swam.
He felt pretty good about his time also, because he misjudged his turn, so he feels like he will be able to drop more time next time he swims it. Tomorrow he swims the 200 back(his favorite) and the 50 free. Hopefully we'll get to see him swim tomorrow!
